Kai Havertz is looking to put on his shotting boots more often after scoring his first three goals for Chelsea on Wednesday.
After months of negotiations, Chelsea signed Kai Havertz on a five-year deal for a fee reported to be in the region of €85 million in the first week of September.
And in only his third match, Havertz showed why Frank Lampard was so insistent on having him in his squad.
He scored thrice, while showing a well-formed connection with his new teammates, especially Tammy Abraham, to help his side qualify for the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.
The attacking midfielder’s breathtaking performance at Stamford Bridge last night came as a response to those who gave him stick for failing to make much impact in his first two games for the Blues.
“I’m very happy to score three goals but of course it’s my beginning here at the club and I want to score more goals, more goals,” Havertz told Sky Sports.
“This is my goal and I’ll try to do my best and I’m very happy to score three goals today and I hope to continue like that.”
“I think he’s a very very good striker and I think our partnership on the pitch was very good. It was our first game together but I like him very much as a striker,” he said of Abraham.
After the resounding 6-0 victory against Barnsley, Chelsea will aim to replicate their performance when they go travel to West Brom for the Premier League clash on Saturday.
