The newly signed striker made his first appearance as a Man City player during his unveiling outside the Etihad Stadium.

Erling Haaland has picked Manchester United as the team he looks forward to meeting as he starts his Manchester City career.

One of the most anticipated transfers of the summer window saw the Norwegian star leave Borussia Dortmund to join City.

The new signing will provide a reliable number nine for Pep Guardiola’s side, who have mostly played with a false-nine under the Spanish manager.

Haaland hopes he can follow the footsteps of City’s all-time top-scorer Sergio Aguero.

“I have many jerseys at home from Aguero, so of course him, so from City it was him,” the Norway international said.

“I love strikers because I’ve always been a striker myself. Aguero’s a good example of scoring goals.”

Asked about the team he looks forward to meeting in the Premier League, he said: “I have to say I don’t like to say the words, but Manchester United, yeah.

“I think it’s going to be a really good time together.

“Let’s get this pre-season gone quick and good and I can’t wait to get started with the important games, and games all the time.”

Man City went on to sign Leeds United’s Kalvin Phillips after securing Haaland’s deal. The Citizens will now travel to the USA for their pre-season tour, where they will meet Club America and Bayern Munich in friendly fixtures.
