It’s time to talk about the legendary players who won the most European league titles throughout their long careers, we have a Top 5 list for you.

With FC Barcelona about to win another La Liga trophy, this is a perfect time to talk about the European club players who won the most league titles in football history.

We have decided to create a Top 5 list of the most successful players who reached double digits in this specific competition, we believe that both Lionel Messi and Gerard Pique will become a part of this prestigious group of players by the end of the season and we’ve decided to talk about each of them in order.

We decided to accommodate them from the one who won the least, to the one who won the most league trophies during their careers. Here we go!

5.- Pirri – 10 La Liga titles for Real Madrid

A defensive midfielder and centre-back by the name of Jose Martinez Sanchez, Pirri started his career at Granada when he was a young footballer and then went on to become an integral part of the famous Real Madrid Yé-yé generation that dominated Spanish football from the sixties all the way through the seventies until 1980.

Pirri was one of the most familiar faces of this squad and he became one of the biggest names in Spanish football history after winning 10 out of the 16 league tournaments that he played as a Real Madrid footballer.

He was also an integral part of the Real Madrid squad that won the sixth European Cup of the 1965-66 season.

4.- Gary Neville – 12 Premier League titles for Manchester United

The first of the most prominent members of the Class of ’92 Manchester United players, Gary Neville was the ultimate Manchester United captain who was the club’s leader for the majority of his career at Old Trafford.

Through 19 seasons of his career as the Manchester United’s full-back, Gary won a staggering total of 12 Premier League titles with the Red Devils.

Other main trophies that he won were the two Champions League titles in 1999 and 2008, he currently is being discussed as the possible next sporting director for the Red Devils in what could be an ideal return to Manchester United.

3.- Paco Gento – 12 La Liga titles for Real Madrid

This man is still the most successful football player of all time at club level, he was part of the mythical Real Madrid squad that won the first European Cup in football history with Los Blancos and also led a different generation of players to their sixth title nearly a decade later.

Paco Gento is the only player who has won a total of six continental trophies, but there are players who might catch up to him this season in that department.

However, Gento was also wildly successful in La Liga with Los Blancos as he won a total of 12 titles during his 18 straight seasons with the club.

2.- Paul Scholes – 12 Premier League titles for Manchester United

The second player from that successful Class of ’92 generation, Paul Scholes is one of the best midfielders in football history and one of Sir Alex Ferguson’s most trusted players.

The former England international won the same number of titles than Gary Neville got during his career, but ‘Scholesy’ made his debut a year after and retired for good on the same season than Sir Alex Ferguson did.

There will never be another midfielder quite like Paul Scholes in football history, a man who was even praised by legendary Xavi Hernandez.

Paul lived a nice and long career of 20 years at Manchester United, he retired a happy man.

1.- Ryan Giggs – 13 Premier League titles for Manchester United

The ultimate league title-winner in football history, Ryan Giggs is the epitome of what a ‘Fergie Boy’ should always be and the club’s biggest symbol in the modern era.

The Welshman became legendary during the treble-winning season when he played as a winger, but his football was so versatile that he evolved into a midfielder role that even allowed him to win the PFA Players’ Player of the year as a veteran during the 2008-09 season.

The man won a total of 13 Premier League titles between the 24 years of career he lived at Old Trafford, he is the most decorated Red Devil who ever lived and one of the best players in English football history.
