The Manchester United forward is struggling to get sufficient game time after spending a successful loan spell at West Ham.

Jesse Lingard moved to West Ham last January after failing to make a single appearance for Man United. The English forward rediscovered his best form, quickly delivering impressive performances under David Moyes.

West Ham were keen to offer Lingard a permanent contract. However, his performances convinced Man United to bring him back to Old Trafford for the current season.

Lingard has struggled to get game at Man United again as he goes through another period of bad form. He has made eight appearances for the Red Devils this season, none of them from the starting lineup.

Despite Lingard’s recent performances, Moyes believes the 28-year-old has great potential.

“I can’t really talk about him [Lingard] because he’s a Manchester United player and it’s not for me to talk,” said the Hammers boss.

“But he was really good for us. Jesse knows what we all think of him here. My disappointment for Jesse would be, I think he’s such a talented football player and he’s not playing.

“He played a big part in our second half of last season. But you’d have to give credit to the players here, they’ve moved on without Jesse.

“People might have thought Jesse made a difference here. But the players have moved on and stepped to another level themselves. But I’ve got to say, Jesse was a big part of that.”

Lingard might seek a permanent move away from Man United this January. According to the Times, Newcastle is reportedly eyeing a move for the English forward.

The player will have the chance to play again for Man United as they take on Crystal Palace on Sunday. With the arrival of the new coach Ralf Rangnick, Lingard’s future at Old Trafford might surprise us with a new twist.
