Kevin De Bruyne’s agent was reportedly arrested in Belgium on Thursday regarding a financial dispute involving the star’s Wolfsburg contract.

Police in Belgium have launched an investigation on De Bruyne’s agent, Patrick De Koster. He was arrested on Thursday and spent the night in jail as a result.

De Koster, who is the manager of agency J&S International Football Management, will reportedly stand before the Council Chamber on Wednesday.

Het Nieuwsblad claims De Bruyne himself made a complaint that triggered the investigation, with a investigating magistrate and specialist in financial crime called Michel Claise spearheading it. He has allegedly told Koster on Friday he will be held for more questioning.

It’s said to revolve around a financial dispute from the player’s time at German club Wolfsburg between 2013 and 2014.

A spokesperson for the public prosecutor’s office, Eric Van Duysee, disclosed that Belgian authorities suspect De Koster of money laundering and forgery.

Reports in the Belgian press claim that investigators on the case have discovered De Bruyne’s Wolfsburg contract wasn’t handled legally as it went through Liechtenstein, a nation known for being a ‘tax paradise’.

De Koster, along with former business partner Didier Frenay, also banked approximately 10% of the €76m Manchester City paid to sign the Belgian playmaker from Wolfsburg in 2015.
