The Sky Blues were missing a number of first-team players at Stamford Bridge but it did not look like it from their performance.

Kevin De Bruyne might have run the show in Manchester City‘s 3-1 drubbing of Chelsea but found it a ‘bit bizarre’ to play as a striker.

De Bruyne was tasked with leading the line for his side due to the lack of options in that position. Gabriel Jesus is spending time in quarantine after contracting COVID-19 and Sergio Aguero, though having recovered from his injury, is still working his way back to full fitness.

The talented Belgian adjusted to his new spot like a duck takes to water as he set up a goal for Phil Foden as well as scored one of his own, helping Man City take snatch three points at Stamford Bridge.

“Bit bizarre in the beginning, I’ve done it a few times in my career obviously we have a lot of forwards out and the coach asked me to do this job, so I tried my best to do it as good as possible,” De Bruyne told about his change in position, speaking to Sky Sports.

“I think after five or 10 minutes we found our rhythm – the beginning was a bit lacking and I was in a bit of a different role today but after that, we played very well.

“We have different players so we play different this year so we have adjusted to our personnel, but the team is finding more rhythm in the last month we are playing better.”
