Romelu Lukaku bags a brace as Blues get a comfortable victory to keep up their unbeaten run in the new season.

Chelsea put three past Aston Villa in their Premier League meeting on Saturday.

It was Chelsea’s efficiency that helped them cruise through the match as Aston Villa could have scored three goals themselves had they been more purposeful about converting their chances.

Romelu Lukaku opened the scoring at the 15-minute mark. The Belgian hitman got on the end of a precise through ball from Mateo Kovacic, feigned a shot to get away from a defender, cut inside, and drilled a shot into the back of the net to get his first-ever Stamford Bridge goal.

Kovacic then got on the scoresheet himself with a delightful finish five minutes into the second half to double the hosts’ advantage.

Minutes before the referee blew for full-time, Lukaku unleashed a powerful shot from the edge of the box to seal the win for Chelsea.

The 3-0 victory took Chelsea up to second place in the Premier League standings. Thomas Tuchel’s side are level on points with Manchester United, who beat Newcastle United 4-1 earlier today, but are behind on goal difference.
