As the upcoming international break comes closer, Zlatan Ibrahimovic makes an expected return after recovering from a knee injury.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic returned to play for Sweden earlier this year after several years away from the spotlight. In many ways, Ibra was already retired from international duty but a second youth struck him while playing in the MLS. He made the conscientious decision to return to Serie A and keep playing at the highest level. At the same time, the Sweden manager decided he wanted Zlatan’s experience to keep guiding all of his compatriots.

He helped the squad reach the European Championship last summer but he suffered a serious knee injury right before the season ended in Italy. This prevented him from representing his country in a major tournament one more time. But Zlatan vowed to return to keep playing for his country regardless of his age. Everything started getting ready for a sensational birthday return. Even though he isn’t completely recovered from physical issues yet, the Swedish FA decided to call him up for the next two matches.

Zlatan will make history at 40 years old.

Sweden made the call-up list for the next two World Cup Qualifiers against Kosovo and Greece in the middle of some controversy. Despite getting recovered from his latest knee injury, Ibra just picked up a muscular problem on the day of his return. The AC Milan board isn’t happy over this call-up because technically, Zlatan is still injured. He hasn’t even returned to full activity with AC Milan this week but he already appeared on that Sweden list.

What surprises us the most is the fact he will turn 40 on October the 3rd. Only six days later, he can potentially play against Kosovo in front of his own crowd in Sweden. If this happens, Ibra will keep making history as one of the oldest footballers to perform at the UEFA World Cup Qualifiers. But then again, we obviously expected something like this from the legendary Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
