The Real Madrid manager has lifted the lid on lingering doubts surrounding his own and Sergio Ramos’ futures.

Zinedine Zidane is confident Sergio Ramos will be a Real Madrid player ‘for many years’ yet and insisted he isn’t looking for a contract extension himself.

Ramos will be out of contract at the end of the season and is yet to agree on fresh terms. Luka Modric and Lucas Vazquez’s deals will also expire next summer, meaning they can talk to other clubs in January over a free transfer.

But while Zidane wasn’t quizzed on the latter two in a pre-match conference for Sunday’s trip to Eibar, he expressed confidence that Ramos will remain.

“He is looking well, because he is convinced that he will continue and that is the most important thing,” said the Real Madrid boss as quoted by Marca.

“I see him playing football for many years because he is someone who takes great care of himself.

“If you want to continue and take care of yourself, you have a great chance of continuing for a long time and I’m not surprised by what he does.”

A run of four consecutive wins has not only changed the outlook of Real Madrid’s La Liga and Champions League campaigns, but it’s eased fears over Zidane’s own future at the club.

“I have nothing in mind, I have a contract until 2022 and I will not ask for anything,” he said on his own future.

“I am fortunate to say that I am at the best club in the world. I hope the players stay.”
