Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane disclosed information regarding injuries ahead of their Champions League fixture.

Zinedine Zidane affirmed that captain Sergio Ramos is in doubt to play for Real Madrid against Shakhtar Donetsk. Subsequently, Los Blancos will host the Ukrainian side for their Champions League opener on Wednesday.

Ramos suffered from a slight knee injury in Saturday’s 1-0 loss to Cadiz. Consequently, the Spaniard did not attend Tuesday’s training session for Madrid.

Meaning, Zidane will not take a risk to play Ramos in Wednesday’s European clash. This is also because the first Classico is taking place this weekend as they take on rivals Barcelona. Thus, his recovery is essential for the Frenchman.

“There’s an issue with Sergio Ramos, he hasn’t trained with the team,” Zidane told a pre-match news conference on Tuesday.

“We won’t take any risks with the players; the players have to be fit. He’s got a knock, we have to wait and see how he feels, it’s true today he didn’t train at the same tempo as his team-mates.”

Another major issue.

Meanwhile, as Ramos recovers from the injury woe, Eden Hazard will be absent for a long duration.

The Belgium international struggled during the course of last season. Furthermore, he could not play for Madrid last month due to arising issues with his muscles.

Offering an update on Hazard, Zidane said: “Eden has been back out on the training pitch but that injury was a bit more than we hoped.

“He’s in good hands and hopefully shortly he’ll be back and he’ll back to stay fit and hopefully he’ll be able to play for the full season without further setbacks.”

In addition, Madrid only made two attempts on target against Cadiz in spite of having 75 percent of control over the game.

Zidane’s men only netted six goals in five La Liga fixtures until now. Although, the boss believes that the Spanish capital will display a different performance in the future.

“I think we deserved the criticism as published following that defeat, but now it’s our opportunity to turn the tide, turn that corner, and hopefully you’ll see a different Real Madrid,” he said.
