During an interview with ESPN, Dwight Yorke made a surprising comparison between a Manchester United star and Kylian Mbappe.

As of right now, perhaps only one Manchester United player can be compared to the likes of Kylian Mbappe. At least that’s what Dwight Yorke seems to think. The former Red Devil was part of the squad that won that legendary treble in 1999, he has credentials to speak about his former club. He is convinced that Marcus Rashford is on Kylian Mbappe’s level due to what he’s shown in recent years. However, he still hasn’t gotten his big moment in European competitions. For Yorke, Mbappe is still one step below Messi and Ronaldo.

Just like Marcus Rashford is at Manchester United. He is fully convinced that the English forward’s best version is yet to come and we might see it in the near future. The stars need to align in order to see this manifestation of a player who has worked hard during his entire career. Plus, we still have at least a decade of Rashford at a high level of performance. There is still time to see what he is capable of doing in both the Premier League and the Champions League.

Yorke is convinced of Mbappe’s level.

“Absolutely. [Rashford] is certainly in the bracket of Mbappe,” Yorke told ESPN. “The likes of [Lionel] Messi and [Cristiano] Ronaldo are a different level, but Marcus is certainly one for the future in terms of being one of the best players in the world, if he keeps working hard and developing his football. We haven’t seen the best of Rashford yet. I think that if we give him another couple of years and let him learn the ins and outs of the game a little bit more, he will only get better. I consider that he is still in that educational part, so he has another couple of years before he develops into the complete player.

“Marcus is being Marcus, and you just see a young man who loves playing football and has unbelievable ability. He has an eye for goal and all the other attributes you look for in a striker: He’s quick, he can go past people, he can create, he can score. He does all of that. We just need to allow him to enjoy it and produce that consistency. He is still in the development stage and people should just allow him to express himself so that, eventually, we’ll see an even better Rashford.”
