The Polish striker is leading the La Liga scoring charts in his debut season at Barcelona.

Xavi Hernandez believes Robert Lewandowski and Karim Benzema are among the top three strikers in the world.

Lewandowski left Bayern after eight years to start his Barca career last summer. The 34-year-old has become a cornerstone of Xavi’s attacking unit at Camp Nou, registering 17 goals and six assists in 23 league appearances.

Benzema, on the other hand, has struggled with several fitness problems all season. The Ballon d’Or winner, however, seems to have regained his best form ahead of the final part of the season.

He scored an incredible hattrick in the span of only seven minutes when Real Madrid crushed Valladolid last weekend.

“With Benzema and Lewandowski, we’re speaking of 2 out of the 3 best strikers in the world right now,” Xavi told reporters.

“They’re similar, but Benzema joins the midfield more. I would say that Robert understands our game perfectly, and he’s more physical.”

Lewandowski scored twice for the Catalans when they defeated Elche 4-0 on Saturday. Ansu Fati, who has struggled for form in recent weeks, also got back on the scoreline for Barca.

“It’s important that Lewandowski scored again, after a couple games without scoring,” Xavi added. “The same with Ansu and Ferran, attackers need that.”
