After Ronaldo spoke about some of the attitudes within the Red Devils squad, Louis Saha offered his take.

Former Manchester United striker Louis Saha reckons Cristiano Ronaldo is well within his rights to dish out criticism, and he urged the players to listen if they want to improve.

In an interview with Sky Sports last week, Ronaldo gave his honest opinion of the squad. He discussed topics such as their recent form, the mentality, and the absolute minimum he expects.

The Portuguese also suggested that some of the younger players aren’t prepared to listen to advice from more experienced stars like himself.

‘CR7 knows how to do it, so the players must listen to him’

Now Saha, who played alongside Ronaldo at Old Trafford between 2004 and 2008, has offered his views on what his former teammate said.

“If any player has the right to speak his mind in the dressing room, it is Cristiano Ronaldo,” the Frenchman told Genting Casino.

“Many of these young players have yet to make their mark in the game. They haven’t proved anything. They may have a few international caps, but what have they won?

“As a player, if you can’t take criticism, that’s not normal, because he is only saying it to help players improve. He wants to win trophies while he’s there and he knows how to do it, so the players must listen to him. Yes, but for the right reasons. It’s not negative.

“Of course, it’s like if you’re not intimidated by your god, you have no respect. I’m not saying that the players should consider him a god, but he will be remembered as one of the best players the world has ever seen.”

Saha added: “These United players need to ask themselves, ‘Do they want to be a winner like him?’

“If so, they need to listen to him, they need to be as dedicated as him in training, they need to focus on improving week on week. They need to be humble, work hard and shut up.”

Ronaldo and Manchester United return to action on Saturday to take on top-four rivals West Ham in the Premier League.
