The Belgian star made a solid start to his second debut with the Nerazzurri.

Romelu Lukaku scored after two minutes in Inter’s Serie A opener vs Lecce on Saturday.

Following a disastrous return to Chelsea, Lukaku left Stamford Bridge to re-join Inter on a loan deal earlier this summer.
The Belgian star scored Inter’s first goal in the 2022-23 campaign only seconds into their match against Lecce.

A searching cross from Federico Dimarco found Matteo Darmian, who headed the ball across the goal for Lukaku. The 29-year-old then nodded home from close range to open score his first goal of the season.

Earlier this evening, Timo Werner, who also left Chelsea this summer, scored in his second debut at RB Leipzig.

The Blues have seen both players move away in the current transfer window as they continue searching for new forwards.

Following failed moves for Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha, Thomas Tuchel’s side are keen to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Barcelona.

However, the Spanish side’s €25m valuation of the player might convince Chelsea to look for younger options. Lukaku will also be available again next summer as there is no option to buy in his loan deal at Inter.

The Nerazzurri will play their first home game of the season against Spezia next weekend.
