Vinicius Junior rues missed chances against Levante as he admits he should have scored more than just one goal in the match.

Real Madrid earned their second successive win of the La Liga season on Sunday as they beat Levante 2-0 away from home.

The visitors took a 16-minute lead through Vinicius Junior, who capitalized on the opposition’s failure to clear a corner and send a beautiful curling ball past Aitor Fernandez, before Karim Benzema‘s late strike rounded off the win.

Vinicius had a few great opportunities to put the game beyond doubt for his side but failed to get his name on the scoresheet more than once. Come the 69th minute, he was replaced by compatriot Rodrygo.

The 20-year old Brazilian’s poor finishing has seen him remain a regular subject of criticism among the fans and critics alike.

Speaking after the match, he admitted that he needs to work on his finishing while expressing his delight at three points earned.

“[I’m] glad that I scored. I was in the right place and I couldn’t miss, although I had more chances later,” said Vinicius, speaking to Movistar Plus.

“I’ll keep working to help Real Madrid a lot more. I could have scored more, but I’m happy with the victory.”

“At the beginning of the season, it is normal to cost us in the second half. It’s hot here and Levante are a good team. They know how to play football well.”
