The Portuguese coach was fired from Chelsea on two separate occasions and has sympathy for his old star player.
Jose Mourinho has sympathy for Frank Lampard following the Chelsea manager’s dismissal on Monday, but he doesn’t feel it’s his place to reach out to him.
The Tottenham boss knows exactly what Lampard is going through, perhaps better than anybody else. He was sacked twice by Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich in 2007 and 2015 despite leading the club to silverware in each stint.
Lampard was an integral figure in Mourinho’s Chelsea squads, having played under the Portuguese from 2004 to 2007 and again in 2013. The pair won two Premier League titles, two EFL Cups, an FA Cup, and the Community Shield.

“I don’t think Frank wants to speak to me or with anyone apart from his close circle of family and friends,” Mourinho in a post-match conference after Tottenham’s 4-1 FA Cup win over Wycombe on Monday.
“But I am always sad when a colleague loses his job and Frank is not just a colleague. He is an important person in my career, so I feel sorry he did.
“But it is the brutality of football, especially modern football, so when you become a manager you know that sooner or later it is going to happen to you.”
Lampard has already released a statement on Chelsea’s decision and expressed his disappointment at not being given more time.
Former Paris Saint-Germain manager Thomas Tuchel is the reported favorite to take charge at Stamford Bridge.
