It happened during today’s friendly between Liverpool and Osasuna, a heartfelt tribute to the late great Michael Robinson at Anfield.
Even though he left us months ago, today was a perfect opportunity for Liverpool and Osasuna to pay tribute to the great Michael Robinson. As a former player, the Irish legend was part of a wildly successful Liverpool squad before moving his attention to Spanish football. Later in his career, he played for Osasuna for two seasons and completely fell in love with the country.
Even though he didn’t really win anything with the Spanish club, Robinson will always be remembered for choosing them due to romantic reasons. The offer they gave him wasn’t big by any means but he loved the idea of playing for a club in La Liga. After retiring, Robinson started another incredibly successful chapter in his professional career as a pundit. Despite the many tributes he received on the day he passed, today was a special day for his memory at Anfield Road.
Osasuna and Liverpool remain close to his heart.
Given his past as a Liverpool and Osasuna player. Today’s friendly between the two clubs at Anfield Road gave them a chance to honor his memory in a way we all expected. All supporters decided to sing the legendary ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ song as a tribute for Robinson with the Osasuna players inside the pitch. Michael’s memory still lives on both as a football legend and a broadcasting titan in the Spanish sports journalism industry.
He may be gone but he will never be forgotten by anybody who remembers his work. After ending the song, both squads and the audience offered about a minute of non-stop applause.
