After serving a period in quarantine, Raphael Varane has wasted no time in putting on the finishing touches to his Manchester United move.

Raphael Varane has arrived at Manchester United’s Carrington training base to undergo a medical and complete his move.

The World Cup winner has ended a 10-year spell at Real Madrid in favor of a reported £42 million switch to Manchester United. The Red Devils have confirmed a deal in principle. All that’s left is for the defender to pass a medical before signing off on the formalities.

He has been in quarantine in Cheshire since arriving in England last Thursday with his wife, Camille, and two young children.

Varane tested negative for COVID-19 on his fifth day of quarantine and can, therefore, move freely in the UK without punishment.

According to MEN, the France international arrived at the Aon Training Complex on Tuesday midday in a blacked-out Mercedes van for a medical. United could unveil their newest signing on Wednesday afternoon once he has signed his contract.

Will he be available to face Leeds?

The Frenchman is keen to get everything done so he can begin training with his new teammates on Wednesday.

If everything goes to plan, United should have Varane registered before midday on Friday. Therefore, he should be available for the club’s first game of the new Premier League season at home to Leeds on Saturday.

Reports claim Varane hopes to win a starting role at Old Trafford, although Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has recently hinted he’ll be on the bench.

The 28-year-old becomes the club’s third signing of the summer transfer window after Jadon Sancho and Tom Heaton.
