The Gers have ended a 12-year absence from Europe’s biggest club competition.

Rangers manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst ‘couldn’t be prouder’ after seeing his side book a spot in the Champions League group stages.

The Scottish giants defeated PSV Eindhoven 1-0 in the second leg of their playoff tie on Wednesday to qualify for the group stages of the competition with a 3-2 aggregate victory over their Dutch opponents.

In doing so, Rangers will compete in the Champions League for the first time since the 2010/11 season.

“It feels great to win this game, to get the whistle at the end, and to achieve what we wanted,” Van Bronckhorst told BT Sport.

“I was more relaxed than last week because of the way we played. It was very controlled, we played the way we wanted. We scored at the right moment and became stronger and stronger in the game.

“As a player and coach, you’re only thinking about competing with the best teams in Europe, and we have the opportunity to do so.

“I’m really happy with the way we played. I couldn’t be prouder at the moment.”

Antonio Colak scored the only goal of the game on the hour-mark to seal Rangers a 1-0 win at Philips Stadion and a place in Thursday’s draw.
