We have the latest update on Sergio Ramos’ fitness ahead of Real Madrid’s weekend trip to face Sevilla in the Spanish La Liga.

Sergio Ramos was recovering from a muscular injury but there was hope for him to recover in time to face Sevilla. Earlier today, the captain was spotted training alongside his teammates as the hopes of his inclusion on the list grew.

Not having Sergio Ramos over the last couple of weeks has been one of the biggest issues Real Madrid had to endure. Without the captain, Los Blancos are nowhere near the level of performance they expect to fight for titles this season. As we all know, Sergio Ramos is a Sevilla FC product, and making it in time for this match was very important for him.

Even though he was spotted training next to his teammates, Sergio’s muscular injury has to recover completely before they risk him. These issues can affect a player on a psychological level that can become a real problem for them.

Zidane chose not to risk Sergio Ramos.

As per the manager’s decision, Sergio Ramos didn’t make the trip to Seville for this weekend’s match. ‘Zizou’ has the Champions League’s final match against Borussia Dortmund in mind above everything else. Keep in mind that Zidane’s job is in the balance and having a recovered Sergio Ramos will increase his chances of keeping his current position.

But there is also a major risk on this trip to Sevilla because Real Madrid could also lose points in La Liga if they lose the game. This decision to not risk Ramos made everybody realize Zidane feels the Champions League is more important than La Liga right now.

The French manager spoke to Real Madrid’s website: “We’re not going to take any chances with Sergio Ramos. If he can play, he’ll be there. I don’t want to play a player who has a problem and then he makes it worse. We’ll see what we come up with tomorrow. We want all the players back.”
