Manchester United have been forced out of their pursuit of Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin. It was the Toffees’ hefty asking price of €87 million (£80m) for their striker that drove the Red Devils away.

Chelsea will soon make the signature of Edouard Mendy official. The Blues have closed a deal worth €30 million (£28m) for the Rennes goalkeeper, who has agreed to a five-year contract. The 28-year old Senegalese will undergo medicals on Tuesday. [Mohamed Bouhafsi]

Reports in Spain suggest Arsenal’s Lucas Torreira is a subject of serious interest for Atletico Madrid. And the fact that Atletico will have to sell players before making additions to their squad has boosted Arsenal’s hopes of signing long-term target Thomas Partey.
