Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly been offered a chance to land Diego Costa, who has lost his place at Atletico Madrid.

After enduring an injury-plagued season in the Spanish capital, Costa has ended up on the fringes of Atletico Madrid squad and could be on his way out this summer.

The 31-year-old striker racked up just five goals and four assists in 23 La Liga appearances for Los Colchoneros last term.

According to the Daily Star, Diego Simeone has put the Spaniard up for sale and moved on to offer his services to Tottenham.

Spurs are on the lookout for a back-up striker for Harry Kane and have already added Bournemouth’s Callum Wilson to the top of their list.

However, Costa, who spent three years at Chelsea before returning to Atletico in 2017, would represent a cheaper option to Jose Mourinho since his deal in Madrid runs out next summer.

Mourinho was the one to take the Lagarto native to Stamford Bridge in 2014 and could be willing to embrace the prospect of reunion to add depth to his squad.

A prolific yet controversial frontman has clocked up 81 goals and 36 assists in two separate spells at Atletico Madrid.

Diego Costa also excelled in the Premier League, netting 58 goals and providing 24 assists in 120 outings for Chelsea.

Although Atletico remain keen on cashing in on their aging star, Tottenham seem to be having doubts about the player’s fitness.
