The Red Devils prepare to play host to the Hammers just three days after paying them a visit in the league.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reviews Manchester United’s 2-1 Premier League win over West Ham ahead of the upcoming meeting with them in the Carabao Cup.

It looked like the two contestants at the London Stadium on Sunday were about to settle for a stalemate, but the fixture had an engrossing climax. The scoreline remained tied at 1-1 with mere seconds left on the clock after Cristiano Ronaldo had canceled out Said Benarhama’s opener, but substitute Jesse Lingard struck at the 89th minute to put his side ahead.

A negligent Man United offered the opponents a chance to snatch a late equalizer by giving away a penalty in stoppage time, but David De Gea made a heroic save to ensure his team walk away with all three points in the bag.

“We all thought Jesse’s goal would be the dramatic end and finale to that game but then we should have had a penalty and they get a penalty and David makes that save,” Solskjaer told a Man United Q&A.

“That’s drama and how football should be, well for supporters not for us. It’s why we almost get heart-attacks and lose our hair!

“It was a great end to the game and when you come out with three points, it’s a better way to win a game than winning 5-0. It brings everyone together and you can see the delight in everyone’s faces after the game.

“You pat Jesse on the back, pat David on the back, and Cristiano scored again, of course.”
