The Red Devils captain has only made four appearances in the Premier League this season.

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has challenged Harry Maguire to reproduce his England form with the club.

The 29-year-old defender started all five of England’s World Cup games, helping the Three Lions record three straight clean sheets against the USA, Wales, and Senegal before their quarter-final exit in Qatar.

Maguire will now hope his form can win him favor under Ten Hag, who has preferred Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez as his two starting center-backs this season.

“I’ve been asked many times. It’s clear he is good enough to play at the highest level,” said the Red Devils boss on Maguire.

“He has, for England, good games almost all the time. He had a period in Manchester where he performed badly. Then, of course, there are difficulties.

“But when he is working hard, he gets that confidence. You are seeing that with the way he is playing for England. We want him to bring it on the pitch for Manchester United. I expect from him, the team knows what they expect from him. If he does that, he will be a great player for us.”

Maguire may get a chance when United play Burnley in a round of 16 EFL Cup clash on December 21 for their first game back from the World Cup break.
