Manchester United’s boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer considered himself lucky after Brighton hit the woodwork five times in the game.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looked happy after Manchester United won at Amex Stadium 3-2 in a hustle. Brighton hit the goalposts five times during the game in a thrilling encounter.

Solskjaer deemed to be lucky. He did not get to measure the woodwork as Jose Mourinho did.

United was under Mourinho for two years before Solskjaer’s arrival at the Old Trafford. Tottenham manager questioned the officials at the Europa League qualifier against Shkendija. This was because the size of the goals were smaller than usual.

The Premier League game did not have such problems. Although, the frame of the woodwork witnessed tremendous action.

Five shots were fired at them. Leandro Trossard himself hit the bar a total of three times in the match. Consequently, Bruno Fernandes scored the winning penalty in the injury time. His shot also skimmed the crossbar.

United get their first three points in the table now. This was possible only because of a dramatic fixture. A late spot-kick helped the Red Devils snatch victory from Brighton.

Solskjaer expressed his feelings to be lucky enough to win the game. He considered that fortune favoured his side in a tough battle for United.

He told BT Sport afterward: “We got away with one. Maybe one point we deserved, we didn’t deserve more. But the character deserved more.

“Last season we had too many draws, so that is a big plus for us. You have to be happy Jose is not here to measure the goalposts!

“They are a difficult team to play against. We don’t have the legs and sharpness but we will get there. We have plenty of work ahead.”

Evidently, Solskjaer’s United returned back to their winning style. On the other hand, it was a sore game for the opposite club.

Seagulls boss Graham Potter told BBC Sport: “The performance level was amazing from us, I’m so proud of the players. It’s a sore one, to say the least. Sometimes life isn’t fair and it feels like that at the moment.

“All the little things have gone against us but we were really good for 90 minutes and we have to take that forwards. We have developed as a group, as a team, and we will take that setback as positively as we can.

“I don’t know what the shot count was but we were dominant. We deserved something from the game, to say the least.”
