Diego Simeone feels the upcoming match against Barcelona will have not much say in his side’s title charge this campaign.

Atletico Madrid wreak havoc against Cadiz in their latest La Liga outing, winning the game 4-0 courtesy of goals from Joao Felix, Marcos Llorente, and Luis Suarez.

The victory saw them stretch their unbeaten streak in the Spanish top-flight to 23 matches – the best run in their history.

Atleti also jumped to the top spot of the league table on Saturday with 17 points from 7 games. However, they lost their lead the very next day.

Los Rojiblancos will now have to wait a while before trying to reclaim their position atop the table as they play FC Barcelona after the international break on October 21.

It is one of the most anticipated fixtures of this season, but Diego Simeone feels the tie isn’t decisive enough for his side’s fate in La Liga.

“They know us, they know that beyond happiness we do not depend on what is going to happen in the game against Barcelona,” said Simeone, via AS

“There are 15 days left, players leave with the national team, we will have to wait for the time we have and we do not move away from that. It is our way of thinking and we live in the next game.

“We will see when the players return in what conditions we see them and we will form the teams accordingly.”
