The Brazilian defender put in a solid performance to help his side book a place in the semi-finals of the Champions League.

Thiago Silva has hinted at his intention to sign a contract extension with Chelsea.

Silva was picked up by Chelsea on a free transfer last summer following his departure from Paris Saint-Germain.

Providing a calm and experienced head at the back, the veteran defender has become an important member of Thomas Tuchel’s team. He has made 24 appearances across all competitions so far this, contributing two goals.

The Blues, however, risk losing him at the end of the season as he is yet to put pen to paper to fresh terms despite his current contract set to expire in June.

It appears as if those at Stamford Bridge have nothing to fret about as Silva his enjoying his time at the club and is open to extending his stay.

“I hope to continue like this,” the 36-year-old defender told Sky Italia. “I want to continue to play at this level and get to the World Cup in 2022.

“Tuchel is doing an amazing job here at Chelsea.”
