Leroy Sane suggests he and Serge Gnabry have much work to do for their partnership to be as effective as that of Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery.

Leroy Sane and Serge Gnabry were both on target in Bayern Munich’s 8-0 destruction of Schalke on their Bundesliga season opener, with the latter netting a hat-trick while the former scoring once.

It was the first time that both the players took to the pitch together for Bayern following Sane’s arrival from Manchester City earlier this summer.

The Bundesliga champions had struggled to form a stable pairing on the flanks ever since the departure of Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery.

Seeing Sane & Gnabry already starting to combine well, fans expect it could be the start of probably another iconic partnership.

It was not long before the fans started pondering over an ideal name, akin to ‘Robbery’, and the name ‘Sanabary’ was suggested.

Sane is not too concerned about what he and his partner in crime should be called but is confident that the two of them can work well together.

“The fans can decide what they like better,” he replied when quizzed on his view on the name ‘Sanabary’ in an interview with Sport Bild.

“The two of them shaped the club for a whole decade on a world-class level. For us, only one game in the FC Bayern jersey went really well for now.

“The contact with Serge has simply never broken off over the years. We played together in the youth teams for the DFB. Now we still get along very well on and off the pitch.”
