Cristiano Ronaldo began a partnership with Garena’s highly in-demand game Free Fire. The player is set to become the new character in the battle royale mobile feature.

Portugal’s captain has become the ambassador for Free Fire’s ‘Operation Chrono’ event. Ronaldo will be the face of Chrono, a hero soldier in a futuristic slum world who wears a black suit and has a robotic arm.

Garena Free Fire released a promotional video where Cristiano Ronaldo is seen playing the mobile game. However, he becomes frustrated as his gaming skills don’t match his playing ones. Therefore, a serious Ronaldo commands the beginning of ‘Operation Chrono’. Moreover, the event will include new features created around his cyberpunk character.

“It’s a great feeling to not only have a Free Fire character inspired by me, but also for the entire universe within the game to change alongside him,” said the Juventus star. “I hope that Free Fire players all over the world will be as excited as I am!”

Free Fire’s battle royale mobile game was developed in 2017 by the Vietnam-based 111dots Studio. In 2019, it was downloaded approximately 267 million times, making it the most downloaded game of the year. However, its popularity hasn’t been reached worldwide. Therefore, Garena believes their partnership with one of the world’s biggest stars will help their growth.
