Lukaku spoke about how his current form puts him on the list of the world’s best strikers.

Romelu Lukaku has had a career of ups-and-downs. His spell at Manchester United didn’t go according to plan, but the player has found new life at Inter Milan. The Belgium international has scored 15 times this season and assisted his Nerazzurri teammates on three occasions.

Lukaku became one of the centerpieces in Inter’s squad, earning him well-deserved praise for his latest performances. Antonio Conte recently claimed that his player was on track to become one of the best strikers in the world. Apparently, the Italian manager isn’t the only one to think so. Lukaku himself believes he’s up there with the best.

“In the past five months, yes,” he said about being one of the best strikers. “I don’t want to rank that top from one to five, but I’m part of it right now.”

Belgium’s top scorer of all time, Lukaku also spoke about his life in Italy and the first impressions he received from his teammates.

“Before I arrived here, I watched some Inter matches and sometimes saw Lautaro lonely in the front. I immediately felt it could click if they put us on the pitch together. Sometimes it’s his day, others it’s mine. If you accept that, everything will be fine,” he told Sport/Voetbalmagazine.

Moreover, Romelu also spoke about the ways in which Mourinho helped him become a better footballer.

“Mourinho taught me to work better with the collective, both in terms of pressing and to position better on the field. Just look at what he’s doing with Harry Kane now.”

Lukaku has helped put Inter one point away from leading Serie A.

The 27-year-old has dealt with a lot of pressure over the years, especially at Old Trafford. However, he’s not afraid of the responsibility involved in playing for a team like Inter Milan.

“I am aware of the responsibility I bear, so I have no right to lower my arms. If I lower my arms, it immediately has a negative impact on the group. You need leaders on the field like me, like Arturo Vidal, Nicolo Barella or Alexis Sanchez. Only with such an attitude can you mentally turn a switch as a team and turn a match over.”
