Even though he’s made an effort during this break, an estranged Barcelona forward won’t have more opportunities as per a recent report.

An estranged FC Barcelona forward has been trying to work harder than usual in order to get more chances to play this season. There are a few of those players in the Catalan club. But we are specifically talking about Ousmane Dembele.

The French forward has been trying to get Ronald Koeman’s attention by going to practice when everybody else is resting. His plan is to impress the Dutch manager in order to convince him that he is worthy to play at the club. But Dembele may have lost the battle against time in Barcelona, he no longer has the club’s trust.

It may be too late for him to recover everything he missed during all those matches he didn’t play due to various reasons. However, the main concern for the club is the player’s injuries. That’s been Dembele’s Achilles’ Heel since he arrived at the club back in 2017. With a board of directors in shambles. There’s no way that the new working force at Barcelona will possibly give him one last chance.

Dembele’s biggest handicap at FC Barcelona.

Knowing that injuries have been the main problem since he arrived, Dembele doesn’t have numbers that back him. Out of all the matches the club has played since he arrived, Ousmane only played 26% of them. Plus, he only played in 53% of the matches where he was available to use by the manager in turn.

These are unquestionable numbers that made the board lose trust on a player who cost them €148 million. The Borussia Dortmund board still can’t believe how the Catalan club was willing to spend that much money on a single player. That’s how we’ve come to today’s situation. Where Dembele is still trying to convince the gaffer he can be important for the club but time simply ran out for him.

Sport reported this weekend that Barcelona will do everything they can to sell him during the winter transfer window. They will try to find the highest bidder but they are also willing to let him leave on a loan as a final alternative.
