The French striker missed Real Madrid’s match against Espanyol with an ankle injury.

Karim Benzema will be available to start for Real Madrid in their upcoming match against Liverpool in the Champions League.

Fitness problems have plagued Benzema’s season, limiting the Frenchman to 15 league appearances.

An ankle injury sidelined Benzema for Real Madrid’s 3-1 win over Espanyol on Saturday. However, the striker will be back for his side’s next European game.

“Benzema is 100 per cent ready. He has done good work in training sessions since Sunday,” Ancelotti said on Tuesday.

“He has great enthusiasm for this game. For me, for the players, for the club and for Karim, this is a massive competition.”

Benzema hasn’t scored in his last three appearances for Real Madrid. However, Ancelotti is not worried over the striker’s apparent dip in form.

“We’re not talking about criticism,” the Italian manager added. “We’re talking about his condition, how he’s doing… I see him looking good, motivated and excited for tomorrow’s game.”

Real Madrid won the first-leg game at Anfield 5-2, taking a big step toward reaching the next round. Liverpool will have nothing to lose when they set foot at Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday.

Benzema and co will take on Barcelona in a crucial league game after facing Liverpool in the Champions League.
