Real Madrid have ended rumors of Martin Odegaard contracting COVID-19 by announcing their squad tested negative for the disease.

Reports in the Spanish media announced that Odegaard tested positive for coronavirus after Real Madrid’s LaLiga opener away to Real Sociedad, leaving him with no other option but to self-isolate.

Of course, Spanish health protocols state that all team members must train individually if even just one of them, regardless of whether it’s a coach or player, returns a positive result. Thus, Zinedine Zidane’s plans for this weekend would’ve been hampered.

An alleged second test was to be undertaken to confirm whether the Norwegian had contracted the disease; as errors have been known to creep in.

But while Real Madrid didn’t state whether there was any second test or not, the Spanish giants confirmed the entire squad is free of coronavirus.

“Real Madrid CF communicates that after the latest Covid-19 tests carried out on our first team and their coaching staff, all the results have been negative,” read a statement on the club’s website.

The Spanish champions are preparing to take a trip to Real Betis for the second match of their 2020/21 campaign on Saturday.
