Ahead of the upcoming crunch match between AC Milan and Manchester United, Rashford recalled Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s teachings.

Marcus Rashford has many role models with whom he’s been able to play, but perhaps none as legendary as Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The Swedish striker has been a childhood idol of many professional players who are young stars today. Marcus Rashford’s case is especially privileged because he had a chance to train with Zlatan up close. The player we see today is a result of all the lessons he learned during his formative years from players of Ibra or Wayne Rooney’s caliber.

Ahead of the upcoming decisive match in San Siro, the Manchester United star is thrilled to play against his former teammate. Although Zlatan is not playing from the start, he might get some important minutes after the break. Rashford can’t wait to face one of his role models. We will get to watch them play in just a few minutes at Giuseppe Meazza Stadium for a pivotal Europa League clash.

Zlatan is one of Marcus Rashford’s idols.

The Daily Mail picked up Rashford’s following quotes from BT Sport: “It was a good period for me as a young player to play with someone of his stature and caliber, someone who has won so many trophies and has so much quality on the pitch. It was a special period for me and I learned many things from him and I’d say the biggest thing was preparing for each game mentally. He was always ready to play the next game, no matter if it was a good or bad result he was prepared and it showed me the mentality you need to have for a long career at the top. It’ll be good and exciting if I do get to play against him.

“We did a lot together, we did a lot of work together as forwards and sometimes he would be able to tell me little things. On the pitch, we’re quite different players but the biggest thing I could take from him was his mentality, the way he gets ready and prepares is relentless and that’s what you need to do to be at the top for 15 years or more.”
