Sergio Ramos is one of four PSG players sidelined ahead of the Parisians’ friendly against his former club Sevilla.

A calf problem has denied Sergio Ramos the chance to make his debut for Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday night.

The 35-year-old hoped to be available for the friendly in Portugal as PSG face Sevilla. Had that been the case, it would’ve been his first appearance for his new club. But he will instead sit it out because of a training injury from last week.

PSG coach Mauricio Pochettino, who plans to gradually ease Ramos back into the fold, made the hard call in order to not risk his summer signing from further damage.

“Sergio Ramos is gradually recovering from a solar lesion in the left calf suffered during training at the end of last week,” read a club statement.

“His return to training is expected in a week.”

If Ramos indeed doesn’t return to training until next week, he could also be a doubt for PSG’s Trophée des Champions clash with Ligue 1 champions Lille this Sunday.

The Spanish defender, who arrived in France on a free transfer from Real Madrid earlier this summer, is the fourth PSG player on the sidelines after Rafinha (knee), Colin Dagba (ankle), and Juan Bernat (knee).
