The Argentine superstar has suffered an untimely injury ahead of PSG’s upcoming Champions League match.

Christophe Galtier has confirmed Lionel Messi will return to action when Paris Saint-Germain host Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

Kylian Mbappe might miss the crucial game through a hamstring injury. PSG saw Messi pick up a similar knock in their Coupe de France defeat against Marseille.

PSG’s upcoming match against Monaco comes too soon for Messi. But the Argentine icon will be back when Galtier’s men take on Bayern.

“Leo has felt muscle fatigue, he will resume training on Monday. He is not uncertain for Bayern,” Galtier said on Friday.

“We know the importance of Leo to our game. With his absence, we will have to play in a different way to have a more solid, more compact team structure, to use each other.

“Obviously, going to Monaco without Leo is always annoying.”

Will Mbappe return against Bayern?

Mbappe has been absent in PSG’s last few games, with the club’s initial assessment saying he’ll also miss the Bayern clash. However, new reports on the Frenchman’s fitness claim he might be able to play against the Bundesliga giants.

Asked about Mbappe’s situation, Galtier added: “The player’s health comes first. I will be very vigilant about the player’s health, especially as the season is long.

“Regarding Kylian, the communication has been made. We spoke of a three-week period of unavailability. Kylian is undergoing treatment.”
