The Argentine icon might play for PSG in their next league game despite his illness.

Lionel Messi claimed the seventh Ballon d’Or of his career on Monday. The PSG star appeared in good health when receiving his prize. However, several reports claimed he was struggling with a stomach bug in recent days.

On Tuesday, PSG issued an official statement on Messi’s fitness.

“Lionel Messi and Leandro Paredes did not participate in the training session today due to symptoms of gastroenteritis,” an official statement reads.

“A further check will be made tomorrow morning.”

According to Goal.com, Messi will be available for the French giants against Nice. The source claims the Argentine will show off his new prize at Parc des Princes before the game.

“He had an upset stomach on Tuesday,” a source told GOAL about Messi. “He will be there [against Nice] but maybe not feeling 100%”.

Despite having Messi at his disposal, Mauricio Pochettino still has several injuries in his squad. Neymar is out of action for up to six weeks, while Julian Draxler and Ander Herrera are also injured.  However, Georginio Wijnaldum will most likely return to the squad in the upcoming game.

Following their game against Nice, PSG will face Lens in their next Ligue 1 game on Saturday.
