The French giants are hoping to entice their star striker to stay by making a different offer.

Kylian Mbappe is only six months away from becoming a free agent. The World Cup winner has attracted interest from several clubs, with Real Madrid being his main suitor.

The Blancos were even close to finalizing a deal for Mbappe last summer. However, PSG did not give up on the idea that they could still tie the 23-year-old to a new deal. The Ligue 1 side are now looking to start a new phase of their negotiations with Mbappe’s representatives.

According to Telefoot, PSG hope to sign a new short-term deal with Mbappe in the next few months. The French source claims the club want to, at least, secure a transfer fee in case of a summer transfer.

Telegraph has also confirmed the story, adding Mbappe is not against the idea of renewing his deal. However, an agreement is still far from being reached.

In an interview earlier this year, Mbappe publicly addressed his disappointment over a failed move to Santiago Bernabeu.

“It’s not easy,” Mbappe told Prime Video (via Fabrizio Romano).

“Whatever happens, I’m going to play for a big club.

People were asking me if I wasn’t too disappointed… yes a bit at the beginning, when you wanted to leave, but I wasn’t in the 3rd division.”
