The PSG star will not be able to play for his side this weekend.

Lionel Messi tested positive for COVID-19 while being on vacation in Argentina. The PSG star missed his side’s 4-0 win over Vannes on Monday.

However, Messi returned a negative test two days later. The Argentine icon came back to France to train ahead of his side’s upcoming game against Lyon. However, the club have now confirmed he will not be able to play in the upcoming match.

An official announcement reads: “Messi will continue his post-COVID individual recovery protocol for the next few days.”

The club also announced Angel Di Maria, Julian Draxler, Danilo Pereira, Layvin Kurzawa and Gianluigi Donnarumma will remain in isolation.

Speaking in a pre-match press conference, PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino said: “All teams have absent players; so do we. We have to adapt to everyday life. Sometimes, we have to change our plans.

“It’s the same every game, we always have to make choices. We have to put the players in the best conditions.”

Pochettino’s side are leading the Ligue 1 table with 46 points from their 19 matches. After the game against Lyon, PSG will face Brest in their next league game on Saturday.
