Kylian Mbappe, Neymar Jr, Angel Di Maria, among a few others, are line for an extension, sporting director Leonardo has informed.

Kylian Mbappe’s future at Paris Saint-Germain has long been a subject of intense speculation, with Real Madrid’s alleged interest in him well known.

The 21-year old Frenchman is viewed as the new generation ‘Galactico’ and the rightful successor to Cristiano Ronaldo among the Los Blancos faithful.

Having refrained from spending last summer and no intention of making investments even in January, the Spanish giants reportedly plan to go out on full force for the talented forward next summer.

It was also reported that Mbappe himself is keen on moving to Santiago Bernabeu and has hence shown no desire to renew his contract with PSG beyond the summer of 2022.

However, the recent information revealed by the club’s sporting director comes as a relief for the PSG faithful as Leonardo informs that they have initiated renewal talks with their prized asset.

Neymar, whose contract expires in 2022, and Angel Di Maria, who is out of contract at the end of the season, are also in line for an extension and so are Juan Bernat and Julian Draxler.

“We’ve started negotiations with Neymar, Mbappe, and Di Maria to extend their contracts,” Leonardo told a Q&A session on PSG’s official website.

“Bernat, too, and Draxler is at the end of his contract. Some young people too. We will intensify this.

“Remember that PSG suffered financial losses this year, we’re in a complicated moment and it’s not easy, but we’re talking directly with Mbappe and Neymar.

“There is a question of timing. The idea of an extension exists. We have arrived at the moment when we must have clearer situations.”
