Forced off due to a muscle issue, the Argentina international could last on the pitch for only 11 minutes at Stade Velodrome on Sunday.

Mauricio Pochettino says Angel Di Maria’s injury is “not too serious”, though the manager is still unaware of the degree of damage done on the player.

Di Maria picked up a muscle strain in PSG’s 2-0 win over Marseille. He was forced to withdraw in the early stages of the match after setting Kylian Mbappe up for the opener and was replaced by Pablo Sarabia.

“Tomorrow, the medical department will be giving Angel some tests,” Pochettino said during his post-match press conference, via Goal.

“For now, the staff are confident enough to say that it is not too serious but we must wait for the tests to know the exact severity of the injury.”

With five goals and 12 assists across 25 games in all competitions so far this season, Di Maria remains a crucial player for the French champions.

The 32-year-old winger is likely to miss the Coupe de France Round of 64 match against Caen on Wednesday. He could also remain unavailable when his side return to Ligue 1 action and host Nice on Saturday.

Di Maria’s fitness will be a key talking point in the lead up to the Champions League last-16 first-leg showdown between PSG and Barcelona on February 16.
