The Parisian club were wasteful in front of goal in Sunday’s league outing and eventually got punished for it as they dropped all three points.

Mauricio Pochettino has urged Paris Saint-Germain to “stay positive” following their shock slip-up against Rennes.

PSG, after recording an impressive 2-0 win over Manchester City in the Champions League, resumed Ligue 1 action at Roazhon Park.

Neymar and Kylian Mbappe missed good chances while Lionel Messi’s free-kick crashed against the crossbar, and their misses proved costly in the end as the visitors were left stunned by their hosts, who struck on either side of half-time to seal a comfortable 2-0 victory.

It marked PSG’s first loss of this season as well as their first defeat in the league since early April.

“We feel sad because we had the best 25-30 minutes of the season in the first half. The problem is, we didn’t score. Converting chances was really tough for the team,” Pochettino said post-match (via Tribuna).

“We have to stay positive and keep working.

“The emotional impact of conceding the goal early after the break was serious for us. They believed in their luck even more and it was difficult for us to recover.”
