As he made his list of the best players of the season, Paul Scholes made a controversial statement about Jack Grealish today.

Jack Grealish doesn’t seem to convince Paul Scholes of his odds to become the best players of the current Premier League season. Even though the Aston Villa skipper has been one of the most impressive players throughout the whole campaign, Scholes prefers to value other aspects in order to pick his top players. In his view, there are many Manchester City players who deserve to get the individual awards this season.

In Jack’s case, Scholes believes he won’t win any individual silverware until he moves to a bigger club either in England or abroad. To the former Manchester United star, Grealish is wasting his skills while he remains with the ‘Villains’ and he should leave ASAP. Jack is widely considered a generational talent but Scholes wants to see him perform somewhere else.

Scholes: “Get out!”

“I love him and I think he’s a great player,” said Scholes on Optus Sport. “Very talented. And done it in a decent team in Villa. No. Don’t get me wrong, I love the player but if he was doing this at Man United, Man City, Liverpool, one of the top clubs then he would be up there. He would possibly be top three. There’s no pressure on Villa. Where’s the pressure on Villa? If he’s at a top club then he needs to win every week. He needs to leave Villa to prove it.

“Nobody questions the lad’s ability one bit. I just want to see him do it at a top club. Villa are a great club – He needs to get out to a club that needs to win every week. There is pressure on him to win every week, win trophies and deliver titles. I think he’s capable of doing it but there will always be doubt until he does it.”
