Paul Pogba has been under the radar of haters and critics lately, but his Manchester United teammate believes in his potential.
According to Scott McTominay, his Manchester United teammate Paul Pogba is underestimated by everyone. As of late, the 27-year-old Frenchman has been receiving criticism regarding his declining form. In fact, the issue for Pogba is his lack of consistency which has nothing to do with his abilities on the pitch.
The Red Devils invested a massive £89 million for the France international who made his move from Italy to England. Pogba had an amazing spell at Juventus and wanted to achieve more in his future back in 2016. United believed that they had acquired a veteran midfielder who would solve their problems in the Premier League. But with inconsistency in his form and fitness, the playmaker has been lacking minutes on the field at the moment.
An underestimated star.
With the responsibility of the European tournament, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been keeping Pogba on the sidelines recently. However, McTominay believes that his colleague has been blamed constantly for United’s losses. And his superstar tag allows the critics to question his qualities.
The Scotland international thinks that Paul has been receiving unfair treatment at Old Trafford. And the Frenchman has proved himself on many occasions in the past. “I remember watching Pogba at Juventus when I was in the reserves at United,” McTominay told Pro: Direct Soccer. I was like: ‘This guy is ridiculous’.
“People don’t know him. People don’t. They don’t know him for who he is. He is very misunderstood, in my opinion, for the way he is, his personality and what he brings the team. Obviously, he can have a bad game, everyone can have a bad game but because it’s Paul Pogba it’s magnified to a different level.
“When he plays well, he’s up there with the very best. Top class.”
