Napoli signed Victor Osimhen for a club-record 70 million Euros, with the striker enticed to San Paolo by Gennaro Gattuso and Aurelio de Laurentiis.
Napoli endured a troublesome 2019/20 Serie A campaign. The Partenopei finished seventh in the points table, nine points behind AC Milan in front of them.
Lorenzo Insigne was their top scorer while Arkadiusz Milik was consigned to the treatment table.
Napoli have splashed the cash in the transfer market, signing Victor Osimhen for €70 million from Lille. Osimhen was prolific in his lone year in Ligue 1, scoring 13 goals in 27 appearances.
The Nigerian forward was pleased at joining Napoli and reflected that it was conversations with Gennaro Gattuso and Aurelio de Laurentiis that convinced him.
“They were like fathers, I received great demonstrations of affection from all the Napoli fans,” Football Italia quoted Osimhen.
“I was convinced I would accept a move to Napoli when I talked to the coach and the president.”
“They are giving me a lot of advice. It’s incredible to receive this affection, for you player, motivation is fundamental.”
Gattuso is structuring his Napoli side with Osimhen at the center. The tactician shared that he will switch the Partenopei’s shape to accommodate the new arrival with Dries Mertens and Insigne.
