We are sad to tell you that Cristiano Ronaldo has no chance to win the Ballon d’Or award in 2021 after an average year for the Man United star. It’s hard to say this because looking at his numbers, Cristiano was better than 99% of all footballers in Europe. He was last season’s Serie A top scorer with 29 goals but he was far from the numbers scored by other players. Perhaps Ronaldo makes it in the Top 10 of the list but he won’t make it past that.
It’s not likely for him to not make it to the podium of this particular award but it also wasn’t his fault. Cristiano didn’t win collective titles because his squads had no fortune last season. With Juventus, he failed to win the Serie A and the UEFA Champions League. For Portugal, Cristiano ended the Euros as the top scorer as well but he was eliminated during the knock-out stage. Other stars such as Leo Messi or Jorginho were more fortunate with their respective squads. Despite this year with no collective happiness, Ronaldo is looking at this season with hope.
Manchester United will be Ronaldo’s last dance.
After a year in which he didn’t get what he wanted, Cristiano Ronaldo started looking at new opportunities. At first, we all fell for the Manchester City gimmick but realized he had a plan all along. The idea was to eventually get Manchester United’s attention in order to complete a sensational return to Old Trafford. By leading a star-studded squad, Cristiano will do everything in his power to return to that Ballon d’Or podium.
Knowing how much he hates losing, we are not expecting him to appear in the ceremony in any shape or form. If he knew he had a chance to win the award, we would definitely see him wearing a tux. But that is not the case. During this new era at Manchester United, Ronaldo can hopefully become the best player in the world at least once more before he retires. This is going to be Cristiano’s last dance, just like Micheal Jordan with the Chicago Bulls.
