There have been widespread reports over the past few days claiming the Argentine will pull curtain on a glorious career.

Barcelona striker Sergio Aguero will hold a press conference on Wednesday midday at Camp Nou to discuss his future.

According to various reports, the 33-year-old intends to announce his retirement from the game after spending the past month battling a heart condition.

Barcelona have confirmed Aguero will make a statement about his future, alongside president Joan Laporta. The event will be held at Camp Nou on Wednesday, and it starts at 12:00 (CET) local time.

What’s the latest on Aguero’s health?

After chest pain forced him off in the 1-1 draw against Alaves on October 30, ‘Kun’ was admitted to hospital. Tests later diagnosed him with cardiac arrhythmia – an irregular heartbeat problem. He previously suffered from it at the start of his football career.

The treatment period is expected to run for three months until the end of January, but there has been increased speculation over Aguero’s long-term future in the game.

Despite originally intending to follow the doctor’s guidelines and not rush into a decision, it appears the striker may have reconsidered. He will reveal everything on Wednesday.

Aguero has made four La Liga appearances for Barcelona this season after joining the club in the summer on a free transfer from Manchester City.
