The world’s most expensive player has lifted the lid on his plans once his contract at Paris Saint-Germain ends.

PSG forward Neymar has hinted he could head to the United States to play in the Major League Soccer for his next transfer move.

The 30-year-old Brazilian is under contract at PSG until June 2025. He expects to see out the rest of this deal, which will make him 33 by the time it expires and in the twilight phase of his career.

But before calling time on his days on the pitch, Neymar would like to spend at least one season in the MLS.

“I don’t know if I’ll play in Brazil again,” the 30-year-old said on the Fenomenos podcast. “I have some doubts about that. I’d love to play in the US, actually. I’d love to play there at least for a season.

Neymar jokingly added: “First of all their season is shorter, so I’d get three months’ vacation.”

When will Neymar retire?

The former Barcelona forward also revealed he hasn’t set a definite date for when he might hang up his boots.

“I joke with my friends that I will retire when I’m 32. But it’s just a joke. I don’t know,” Neymar continued.

“Honestly, I will play until I’m mentally tired. If my mental health is ok and my body as well… Physically, I think I’ll still last a few years. But my mental health is the most important thing.”
