The Blues survived a late scare to book a place in the penultimate stage of Europe’s premier club competition for the first time in seven years.

Mason Mount has hailed Thomas Tuchel’s “big impact” at Chelsea following their progression to the Champions League semi-finals.

A last-gasp wonder-strike from Mehdi Taremi saw Chelsea get beaten 1-0 by Porto in the quarter-finals second-leg on Tuesday.

Thanks to their comfortable first-leg win, however, the Premier League outfit advanced to the last-four stage on a 2-1 aggregate victory.

Chelsea will now have to overcome either Real Madrid or Liverpool in order to reach the finals and eventually achieve European glory.

“[Tuchel] has had a big impact,” Mount told BT Sport post-match. “It’s difficult to come in midway through the season but he has had a big impact on the players. We have known from day one what he has wanted and implemented it in the games.

“We are working hard in training and it is showing. We’re looking solid as a team. We have been performing at a high level. We need to continue that.

“We will take anyone [in the semi-finals]. We’re ready for the fight and the battle. We get to sit down and watch it and really analyse it. We will be ready for anyone.”
