The Rossoneri star has attracted interest from several clubs ahead of the summer transfer window.

RedBird, who completed their AC Milan takeover last week, have decided to extend Rafael Leao’s contract.

Leao was a key player for the Rossoneri as they won their first Scudetto in 11 years last season. The 22-year-old’s performances have caught the eyes of several elite clubs.

However, the new Milan owners are reportedly determined to tie him down to a new contract.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the new owners have made Leao’s contract extension one of their top priorities ahead of the next season.

Leao’s current deal runs until 2024. Milan have reportedly offered a €4.5m-per-season salary to the Portugues star. However, the Italian source claims that amount is not enough to convince the player.

Real Madrid have intensified their efforts to sign Leao after failing to bring Kylian Mbappe to Santiago Bernabeu.

According to Spanish outlet SPORT, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is considering Leao and Aurelien Tchouameni as the club’s top summer targets.

SportMediaset has claimed Leao’s agent has asked for €6-7m net per season for his client. If Milan manage to extend the forward’s deal, they will most likely add a €250-300m release clause in his contract.
